Our client is looking for a Storage Engineer to join their team in Detroit, MI.

VMAX and Automation**

This individual is responsible for executing the activities of IT Storage Operations including: maintenance release planning, event communications, production system readiness, audit activities, management reporting, etc. This may require the implementation of new tools and processes to create a fully collaborative work experience that determines conflict and constraints through a data driven model.

The role is responsible to collaborate with peers on routine operational metric reporting of key process indicators (KPI) enabling senior leadership with data for tactical action and strategic planning. Operational reporting must illustrate staffing efficiencies or constraints, environment stability or failure points, capacity forecasts or overconsumption, process strengths or weaknesses, etc. This effort is highly collaborative across multiple teams, however, this role will drive the standard reporting requirements to present a concise, common view of the IT infrastructure landscape to senior leadership.

The role works across all functional areas of the company to reproduce and resolve customer issues, achieving high levels of customer satisfaction. The right candidate will be an empowered self-starter, familiar with working in a fast pace environment. The position will have the responsibility of working with customers, technical support teams, development teams, and technology infrastructure teams.

    • Dell enterprise storage solutions
    • EMC VMAX3 / PowerMax
    • Cisco MDS Storage Networking
    • EMC Isilon / Oracle ZFS - NAS
    • EMC Data Domain
    • EMC Unisphere
Mandatory Skills
Education training and background preferences:
  • Two years of post secondary education in an information technology related field with at least four years of related professional experience.
  • Vendor specific training utilizing management toolsets for the VMAX, Symmetrix, CLARiiON and Celerra NAS with Vipr SRM, Connectrix Manager and Navisphere.
  • Demonstrable experience with the management of enterprise storage in a 24x7 production environment compromising a mix of UNIX/Linux and Microsoft Windows based operating system servers.
Desired Skills
  • Solid understanding of EMC Storage technology
  • Storage Automation using Ansible, Terraforms, PowerShell
  • Manage and maintain the company's storage-based systems and the deployment of these storage technologies
  • Must have hands-on experience with EMC SAN & NAS series storage along with Cisco SAN switches
  • Experience in troubleshooting SAN, complex computing platforms, storage systems including SAN and NAS arrays, and cutting-edge technologies involving virtualization, distribution, and high availability
  • Perform activities related to install, configure and managing SAN devices and fiber switches
  • Solid understanding of storage protocols like FC, CIFS and NFS
  • Practical application of technical methods and procedures
  • Conduct bottleneck evaluation to identify performance issues
  • Review system performance and efficiency
  • Provide architecture and performance recommendations
  • Conduct bottleneck evaluation to identify performance issues
  • Experience in complex multi-team delivery models
  • Collaborate with DBA as well as other Operations teams to assure apt storage usage
  • Correlate environment conditions and metrics to application events
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Financial Services or auto finance experience
