Product Designer

Our client is seeking a Product Designer to join their team. This role is remote. 

The Product Designer uses a human-centered approach to understand partner needs through qualitative and quantitative insights. You’ll tackle complex tasks and transform them into intuitive, accessible, and scalable experiences for global customers. Achieving this goal requires collaboration with other designers, researchers, engineers, and product managers throughout the product development process—from uncovering user needs to creating prototypes to creating production-ready ready assets.

This full-time position will report to the Director of Product Design.

Key Responsibilities:

This is an entry level role that is responsible for configuring and maintaining complex data aggregation, analytics, underwriting and workflow strategies that support processing credit applications and business process automation on firm's configurable credit risk management platform. The individual will work closely with firm's credit risk management, analytics, underwriting, loan operations and engineering teams to configure changes on the Decision Engine platform. The Decision Engine platform operates risk and pricing models, data aggregation connectors to third party data sources and our various credit rules and policies associated with the origination process.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Help evolve of Product Design practice with a focus on strategy, product quality, and managing design systems
  • Uncover user needs through research, develop deep insights, generate concepts and craft how people will interact with the products and services we design
  • Drive a human-centered design process that spans all phases of development, from framing a problem to creating concepts for release
  • Frame design solutions and explain thinking and rationale in a compelling way to senior clients
  • Lead the communication of research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale
  • Establish and manage client relationships and participate in winning new business
  • Lead, plan, design and facilitate workshops and client presentations
  • Work collaboratively with customers and cross-functional team members
  • Create experience maps, user journeys and service blueprints, interaction models, flows, and wireframes
  • Build rapid prototypes for presentations, research sessions, or design reviews

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of product design experience
  • Strong portfolio of product design experience, especially demonstrating strong grasp of visual design principles and simplifying complex workflows
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to explain the reasoning behind your design
  • Experience designing for desktop; knowledge of new and upcoming design best practices
  • Experience working on cross-functional agile teams
  • Fluency in industry-standard design tools (e.g. Sketch, Abstract, Figma, Airtable, Miro)
  • Strong understanding of business requirements and technical constraints in order to make recommendations on an iterative design approach

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience designing for both web and mobile for a B2B company in a startup environment (or equivalent)
  • Experience designing for a FinTech or SaaS or platform based company
  • Experience with moderated and unmoderated user research methods
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems
  • Strong interest in scaling design teams and building design culture
