A law firm is currently looking for a Director of Application Development to join their team in New York, NY.
Position Summary
The Director of Applications and Development is a member of the senior Information Systems management team responsible for managing the Enterprise Applications, Data Services and Desktop & Mobile Platforms groups.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in the Firm’s strategic planning process for Information Systems, with a focus on identifying new opportunities to leverage enterprise systems, cloud platforms, application development and business intelligence to achieve objectives.
- Establish operational procedures to (a) ensure high performance and ongoing stability of all systems; (b) utilize the Firm’s robust offsite data center facilities and highly redundant infrastructure to ensure high availability and minimal downtime of all systems; and (c) maximize efficiencies in IS operations.
- Manage the Enterprise Applications team which is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of the Firm’s enterprise applications, database environment and cloud platforms.
- Manage the Desktop Engineering team which is responsible for the creation, ongoing evolution, and day to day maintenance of the Firm’s virtual and physical desktop, and mobile device environment.
- Responsible for the Application Development of SharePoint-based solutions, Workflow platforms, custom .NET solutions and low-code development platforms to support the improvement of business processes.
- Responsible for management of the health, maintenance and stability of the environment SQL Server Database , ETL data processes and systems integrations.
- Develop Reports and Dashboards to provide insight and actionable information to business stakeholders and departments using Microsoft SSRS and PowerBi.
- Participate in the annual budget planning process for Information Systems. Prepare a budget for areas of responsibility and manage related expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budget.
- Work with the Director of Infrastructure team to maintain and update a multi-year plan for infrastructure resource needs.
- Work with the Director of User Support and Education to develop service levels and ensure compliance within areas of responsibility.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Specific Skills and Requirements:
- Experience with Enterprise Applications such as; iManage, Elite Enterprise/3E, Compulaw, and viEval/viLMS/ViRecruit.
- Experience managing and enhancing Cloud and SaaS platforms such as Microsoft o365, Dynamics365, ServiceNow, SharePoint Online and HighQ.
- Experience with related Desktop Engineering technologies including: Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Ivanti, and Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp.
- Experience with Apple iOS device management and mobile device management platforms such as Intune.
- Experience with SharePoint development utilizing Handshake/Nintex and the SharePoint Framework (SPFx).
- Experience with database development, ETL processes, data marts, reporting and analysis using Microsoft SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, IntApp Integrate and PowerBI.
- Experience participating in a formal IT service management program based on accepted best practices such as the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
- A minimum of 4 to 5 years’ related experience in a professional services environment, law firm environment a must.
- Related technical certifications a plus.
Education and General Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably with strong academic record.

- Attendance Requirements:
- On site during normal working hours and available as necessary before or after normal working hours to work at the Firm, over the telephone, or at off-site meetings, in order to meet the demands of the job and the needs of the Firm.
- Expected to carry a wireless email device and respond when necessary.
