HRIS Specialist

Our client is seeking an HRIS Specialist to join their team. 

Duration: 6 month contract (extension probable)
Location: Remote (East Coast Hours)

Open Systems is searching for an HRIS Specialist (with 3 plus years experience).  This role provides analysis, testing, implementation, and project management support for HRIS projects including upgrades and enhancements. Ensures data integrity and efficient processing of HR data as well as troubleshooting, auditing and systems maintenance. Responds to ad hoc requests for information using a variety of reporting methods and statistical summaries. Serves as a subject matter expert on the HR system. 

  • Administers the HRIS, ensuring data integrity and efficient processing of HR information. Performs maintenance to include security, data entry, configuration and routine auditing. Develops queries, provides data feeds and various reports and statistical summaries of HR information. Identifies and develops additional reports.
  • Evaluates, recommends, plans, tests and implements improvements, enhancements and upgrades to the HRIS and other HR systems (e.g. Performance Management, equity administration, etc.) and interfaces to other internal and external systems.
  • Develops and maintains all systems related documentations, procedures manuals, tables, code lists, etc.
  • Serves as liaison with IT staff and external vendors to develop and/or implement applications and analyze, troubleshoot and resolve programming or systems related problems.
  • Advises and trains HR staff on how to maximize the use of HR systems through regular communications and training. Acts as liaison with Finance, IT and other HR departments on systems related issues, reporting, etc.
  • Backups HRIS Assistant when needed for data entry, basic report writing, payroll close out, etc.  

Required:

  • Demonstrated software knowledge of HRIS (e.g. Lawson or similar HRIS), advanced database applications (MS Access), report writing (Crystal Reports) and Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a project, software implementation or upgrade
  • Process improvement orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with all levels of employees and work as part of a team as well as the ability to provide service/remain focused in a demanding environment
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs for HRIS or other systems
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, as demonstrated by ability to identify problems and determine appropriate solutions and resolve sensitive problems
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding HR and Payroll information
  • Ability to develop complex queries and assist junior staff with new queries
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Computer Science or another related area.
