Certified Pharmacy Technician

Open Systems is looking for a Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our client in Austin, Texas for a 6 to 8 month contract (W2 contract).

This role will be 40 hours per week - $18/hour. 

Looking to hire very fast. No interviews! Job offers extended as soon as Monday 8/17. They will hire off of your resume. Employment is contingent upon passing drug and background test.

Summarized Purpose:
Assists the Pharmacy team in the administrative and technical operations of the pharmacy. Assists in the development and continued evaluation of a training process for Clinic staff interacting with the pharmacy, to assure compliance with pharmacy procedures (i.e., drug accountability, storage, administration of doses, and proper documentation of the trail of study drug to and from the pharmacy). Provides work direction and oversight to the technician staff.

Essential Functions:
Assists staff in receipt, storage, dispensing, and return of drug. Acts as liaison with Pharmacy management, Clinical teams, Clinic Project Managers, and Clinical Operations and Logistic Departments. Assists in assuring all crucial pharmacy pre-study information in E-Clinics automated module data entry is appropriate, the latest information available, and accurate for each study.

Prepares and reviews the accuracy of labels, assists in packaging of doses, and accounts for all dosage units entering and leaving the Clinic per FDA regulations and guidelines and per study protocol requirements. Assures proper protocol and regulatory procedures are followed in the receipt and handling of drug by team members and other staff responsible for dosing.

Assists in assuring that study drug product prepared and/or checked by pharmacy technical staff is of the highest quality standards to ensure the safety of the study participants and integrity of the study.
Assists in the continued evaluation of a training program for Clinic staff that interacts with the pharmacy, to assure compliance with pharmacy procedures.

Assists with the completion of all required in-house cleanroom procedures and sterile technique skills tests for all staff.

Interacts with sponsors/clients in regard to potential and on-going studies. Explains procedures and responds to sponsor/client requests regarding handling of drug, close-out issues, etc. Assures close-out of studies are handled properly (i.e. drug is returned to sponsor, stored correctly, etc., depending on protocol/sponsor requirements).
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High / Secondary school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification including 2 years pharmacy technician experience
  • 1-2 years experience working in a phase I clinical research setting
  • Pharmacy tech certification, licensed with the Board of Pharmacy

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office or clinical environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently stationary for 4-6 hours per day.

  • Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
  • Lifts/carries objects of 5-15 pounds on a daily basis
  • Occasionally lifts/carries objects of 16-25 pounds
  • Must be able to see and recognize colors
  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
