SAS Developer-Analyst

A health services organization is seeking a SAS Developer/Analyst to join their team in Chattanooga, TN.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced professional input to complex Data Measurement and Reporting assignments/projects
  • Provide analytical and operational reporting, business performance measurement and management dashboards, and fulfills data and measurement requests from business partners
  • Manage advanced data/analytics projects that are used to develop actionable insights and recommendations
  • Support/provide direction to more junior professionals
  • Work autonomously, only requiring “expert” level technical support from others
  • Exercise judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of both standard and complex techniques and procedures
  • Use in-depth professional knowledge and acumen to develop models and procedures, and monitor trends, within Data Measurement and Reporting

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of experience in health care/managed care with responsibility for analysis and data management with relational database concepts and reporting with strong preference for backgrounds with financial and utilization analysis
  • Experience using relational database concepts and applications, specifically use of SAS, Tableau, MS Access, SQL, Excel, and Python
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) procedure as a data retrieval tool; Specifically, the ability to write programs to perform queries on data and retrieve data from multiple tables/sources with SAS and SQL
  • Healthcare data experience and demonstrated understanding of the health delivery system
  • Experience interpreting and translating business needs into technical requirements
  • Strong data mining skills including the ability to perform research and conduct root cause analyses
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and able to effectively organize/present information to various audiences
  • Able to quickly understand key aspects of data and applications as they relate to business functions
  • Able to work independently, within a team or with matrix partners with some guidance while managing multiple tasks and meeting aggressive deadlines
  • Understanding of claim submissions, claims payment processes, reporting concepts, database management, and financial concepts preferred
  • Experience with continuous quality improvement methods and tools preferred
  • Experience with HEDIS, VBA coding and Tableau a plus
