HR Operations Business Analyst

Our client, a global law firm is currently seeking a HR Operations Business Analyst to join their team in Philadelphia, PA. This candidate will plan, coordinate and manage the Firm’s human resource information systems to ensure end user productivity and efficiency. You will analyze the business needs of the Human Resources function and provides recommendations for the use of technology in supporting those needs. He/She will be responsible for functional analysis, design and documentation, system administration, report development, process re-engineering and functional systems testing and training.


  • Consults with Firm and local HR department teams to evaluate their needs and to provide technology solutions
  • Analyzes the business needs of the department and recommends appropriate applications or enhancements to existing applications to support those needs
  • Identifies, recommends and implements innovative business system processes and procedures to improve efficiency considering system capabilities, system capacity and limitation, operating time, and desired results
  • Makes “best practice” recommendations to insure optimal use based on knowledge of firm processes and technology
  • Conducts process design and gap analysis, functional system design with formal documentation and system configuration
  • Provides overall project management for select HR Operations initiatives                                                                                            
  • Plans and manages the configuration of multiple current systems; including but not limited to Lawson, Kronos, Brassring and viDesktop. .
  • Assists the Compensation and local HR teams with the process flows, data analysis, system configuration and mass uploads associated with annual and off cycle events such as performance evaluations, merit increases, bonus payments and job structure enhancements.
  • Assists the Talent Acquisition team with system configuration, reporting, analysis and testing of periodic system releases associated with current Brassring recruitment application.
  • Assists with analysis, design, documentation, testing and training associated with a  global Workday HCM implementation; serving as a functional lead in the areas of Compensation and/or Recruiting and Onboarding.
  • Evaluates system functionality versus business needs; recommends and implements application solutions or alternate methods to meet business requirements
  • Teams with Information Technology to develop and implement new or enhanced technology (e.g., interfaces, outsourced vendor arrangements, system integration) and manages service and support
  • Prepares test plans/scripts; executes test scripts; oversees and supports user acceptance testing. 
  • Develops user procedures, guidelines and documentation
  • Assists with software implementation and upgrades as necessary
  • Provides level 2 support for all HR system modules (HR, Payroll, Time and Attendance, Compensation, Benefits and Talent) including, but not limited to, researching and resolving application issues, unexpected results or process flaws
  • Coordinates with Firm IT to resolve application issues
  • Actively participates in user acceptance testing and documentation of software applications
  • Assists end-users and clients on technology related issues                                                                                    
  • Administers and supports various applications, including, but not limited to  Kronos and viDesktop.
  • Designs and delivers complex ad-hoc reports with available tools (e.g., Lawson Reportwriter, Lawson Add Ins, Reporting Services and other MS programs) using advanced query techniques; provides analysis and interpretation of report data as required


  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university,
  • 5+ years of directly related HRIS or HR Operations experience,
  • Experience with a global cloud-based HCM system implementation (Workday preferred), with specific experience in the areas of Compensation, Recruiting and Onboarding and/or Time and Attendance (Workday and/or Kronos preferred).
  • Ability to adapt to change and balance competing demands
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret  business and professional publications, prepare business correspondence, proposals and reports, effectively present information to groups of employees, and respond to questions from employees, managers, clients and vendors.
  • Advanced arithmetic skills (compute rate, ratio, percent; able to draw and interpret graphs and charts)
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions
  • This job may require occasional travel.
